Let it rain

The last few weeks of relentless rainfall have probably been a good test for the flood maps recently published by the Environment Agency (EA)

These maps detail the areas at risk of surface water flooding. Surface water flooding occurs when water falls on an impermeable surface, such as concrete or paving, and cannot rapidly dissipate into the ground.

Where there is a risk of flooding the EA has classified it as being high, medium or low which corresponds to probability that flooding will occur. Anyone can look at the new maps on the EA website, click here

The intention of these maps is to help Lead Local Flood Authorities (LLFAs are either your local County of Unitary Council) to plan better for all sorts of flooding risks. The LLFAs are responsible for developing and maintaining and applying a strategy for local flood risk management.

Let us know if you are concerned that your property is at risk of surface water flooding, and we will see what can be done to minimise the risks and make it more resilient should the worse happen.
